I see digitizers apologize for “jump stitches”. Why, because clearly, if a design is simple and plain, and mostly filled, jump stitches can nearly be avoided. However, if there is detail, and I like detail, it requires layering, thread changes, and jump stitches. When turning my paintings into embroidery thread art, my concern is the look of the final design. I certainly am not going to compromise a design attempting to run a thread where it should not go in order to avoid a jump stitch. While I attempt to minimize jump stitches, I certainly am not going to apologize for jump stitches. My only concern is that the final outcome be beautiful and adorable. Complex designs and open designs clearly cannot avoid jump stitches, but the beauty of a design will compensate for cutting those threads!
